- ---Pirates Cove---
-
- Instructions
-
- If you have Wordworth S.E I have included the full 3 page manual
-
- for you to load into wordworth and print out. This text file is
-
- for those of you who don`t or can`t do the above.
-
- The full manual is found on disk 1 in the drawer called "Manual"
-
- Controls:-
-
- Joystick, direction controls are as normal
-
- Fire = Enter menu`s
-
- Up = Exit menu`s
-
- Basic Idea:-
-
- You begin the game with 6000 in gold, 20 crewmen, 20 beef joints, 20
-
- barrels of rum, 1 pirate ship in good condition, no maps and full
-
- armour(max strength is 3).
-
- What you need to do is recover the 14 treasure chests from each island
-
- and the scrolls held within.
-
- You can visit the islands without a treasure map but are very likely
-
- to fall down one of the many hidden traps left by other pirates.
-
- During the course of your quest, many factors will change....the crew
-
- will eat the food, drink the rum and even jump ship is there is`nt
-
- enough food and drink to go round. If you lose crew, either during
-
- battle or because of other factors then your armour will decrease,
-
- making your ship more vunerable. In order to raise cash for food, ship
-
- repairs etc you will need to attack cargo ships in your area.
-
- So finally:-
-
- Sink cargo ships, steal their gold, buy maps, visit islands, collect
-
- the scrolls...........Easy or what.....Oh and stay afloat.
-
- Hint:-
-
- Use the ? icon on the main menu when next to a cargo ship, this will
-
- tell you how much gold it`s carrying.

- ---Pirates Cove---
-
- Author:- Steve Bailey
-
- Game Type:- Strategy
-
- Created on:- A1200/030
-
- This Game began life back in late June 97, but soon became a bigger project
-
- than I had expected. In July/Aug I took a break from this and created ANTS,
-
- before going back to Pirates Cove for round two. Once again I reached a point
-
- where I became lost in my own code (even though it was heavily commented),
-
- another break later and the release of Survivor (another Arcade Game).
-
- Finally Christmas 97 and light at the end of the tunnel, or was it!
-
- The code seemed right, the bugs fixed (I hope) and the errors trapped...and
-
- guess what? Not enough memory to compile the finished article, this lead
-
- to investment in a memory expansion and an increase from a 2 disk game to
-
- 3 disks, anyway enough crying from me.
